How to pray the Chaplet of Saint Patrick

St Patrick Chaplet PrayerPrayer on the Medal
The Apostle’s Creed:

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

On the First Bead
Make Intention:
Through the intercession of St. Patrick, may God Almighty strengthen my faith, grant the grace of faith for others for the triumph of Christianity over the ecumenical heresy and pagan religions.

On Each of the Twelve Green Beads
Glory be: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

in vast might, invocation of the Trinity ;
belief in a Threeness ;
confession of Oneness ;
towards the Creator [A, meeting in the Creator S, of the Creator of Creation].

3). I arise to-day :

in the might of the order of Cherubim [A, of grades of Cherubim ; S, of the love of Cherubim];
in obedience of Angels ;
in ministration of Archangels ;
in hope of resurrection for the sake of reward ;
in prayers of Patriarchs ;
in predictions of Prophets ;
in preachings of Apostles ;
in faiths of Confessors ;
in innocence of holy Virgins ;
in deeds of righteous men.

4). I arise to-day :

in the might of Heaven ;
brightness of Sun ;
whiteness of Snow [S, brilliance of Moon] ;
splendour of Fire ;
speed of Lightning [A, Light] ;
swiftness of Wind ;
depth of Sea ;
stability of Earth ;
firmness of Rock.

5). I arise to-day :

in the might of God – for my piloting ;
Power of God – for my upholding ;
Wisdom of God – for my guidance ;
Eye of God – for my foresight ;
Ear of God – for my hearing ;
Word of God – for my utterance ;
Hand of God – for my guardianship ;
Path of God – for my precedence [S, to lie before me] ;

Host of God – for my salvation ;
against snares of demons ;
against allurements of vices ;
against solicitations of nature ;
against every person that wishes me ill far and near ;
one or many [A, alone and in a crowd],

6). I invoke therefore all these forces :

Christ behind me,
Christ in me,
Christ under me,
Christ over me,
Christ to right of me,
Christ to left of me,

meeting in the Creator ;

Domini est salus, Domini est salus, Christi est salus ; Salus tua, Domine, sit semper nobiscum.
(Salvation is of the Lord, Salvation is of the Lord, Salvation is of Christ, may your salvation, Lord, be always with us.)

“The Lord hath given to me, though humble, the power of working miracles among a barbarous people, such as are not recorded to have been worked by the great Apostles; inasmuch as, in the Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ, I have raised from the dead bodies that have been buried many years; but I beseech you, let no one believe that for these or the like works I am to be at all equaled with the Apostles, or with any perfect man, since I am humble, and a sinner, and worthy only to be despised.” (Epistle letter of St. Patrick)
