What is understood by the Church Year? By the Church Year is understood the succession of those holy days and seasons, reoccurring with each succeeding year, which the Church has appointed to be celebrated, that the faithful may be reminded of the divine graces and mysteries, may praise God, and occupy themselves, at such times, with pious, devotional exercises in His honor, and for their own sanctification.
The Church’s Year is written by Rev. Fr. Leonard Goffine in a popular Question and Answer format effectively communicating on a variety of topics throughout the Liturgical Year, It also includes Texts and Commentaries for the Epistles, Gospels, and most other Mass prayers (e.g., Introit, Collect, Gradual, etc.) for every Sunday and Holy Day of the Liturgical Year. Leonard Goffiné (1648 – 1719) was a German Catholic priest who wrote devotional texts which remain influential in the Catholic church up to this time.
